Safety Valve

Spring Loaded, Full Lift & Pilot Operated

Safety Valve is an automatic safety valve designed specifically to protect boilers, pressure vessels, and compressor systems from overpressure. Unlike Relief Valves, Safety Valves work with a pop-action mechanism (opening fully instantly) and are typically used for gas or steam fluids.

Safety Valve

Product Description

Safety Valve is a type of safety valve regulated by a spring force that acts against system pressure. When system pressure reaches Set Pressure, the spring force is overcome and the valve opens instantly fully (pop action / full lift). This fast mechanism is crucial to discharge a large volume of gas or steam in a short time to prevent boiler explosion.

After the pressure drops to a safe limit (blowdown), the spring will push the disc back to its seat to close the valve. Safety Valves are generally used for compressible fluids (Gas, Steam, Air) and must have ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section I (for power boilers) or Section VIII (for pressure vessels) certification.

Karya Mandiri Valve provides Safety Valves with various orifice areas (D to T), materials, and connections. Equipped with a manual test lever and conforming to API 526, ASME Section I/VIII, and DIN EN 4126 standards.

Spring Loaded Safety Valve
Type

Spring Loaded Safety Valve

Uses a spring to hold the disc. When system pressure exceeds the set point, the spring lifts and the valve opens. Most commonly used for boilers, compressors, and air tanks.

Steam / Gas / AirASME I / VIII
Full Lift Safety Valve
Type

Full Lift Safety Valve

Designed with a hysteresis mechanism so the disc lifts fully (up to 100% lift) when reaching set pressure. Provides maximum discharge capacity instantly (Pop Action).

High CapacityPop Action
Balanced Bellows Safety Valve
Type

Balanced Bellows Safety Valve

Equipped with flexible bellows that isolate the spring from back pressure. Set point remains precise even if back pressure fluctuates. Ideal for flare systems.

Variable Back PressureToxic / Corrosive Gas
Pilot Operated Safety Valve
Type

Pilot Operated Safety Valve

Uses the system pressure itself to control opening via a pilot line. Provides a very tight seal before the set point and high capacity. Suitable for gas pipelines & tank farms.

Zero LeakageHigh Pressure Gas
Low Lift Safety Valve
Type

Low Lift Safety Valve

Disc only lifts partially (proportional to pressure). Generally used for liquids or low-pressure applications where instant discharge is not required.

Proportional LiftLiquid Service
Dead Weight Safety Valve
Type

Dead Weight Safety Valve

Uses a dead weight instead of a spring. Very simple and suitable for very low-pressure applications such as hot water tanks or district heating systems.

Note for Safety Valve: The class values above are the inlet flange ratings. Set Pressure (opening pressure) of the Safety Valve can be adjusted below the class rating, usually starting from 1 bar up to the maximum class rating. Safety Valves must be tested and certified by authorized bodies (such as ASME with V/UV stamp) before installation on boilers or pressure vessels.
